Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
The sports information coordinator serves as the public relations specialist for a college's athletic department. Sports information coordinators promote athletic events, student-athlete and coaching achievements to internal and external entities.

  • Responsible for the daily maintenance of the College of DuPage Athletics website in conjunction with the College's web-hosting service, sidearm.
  • Provide timely and compelling sports information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Game stories, feature articles to spotlight team members, game previews, etc.
  • Updates and maintains the Athletics website pages of all contest schedules, scores, stats, rosters, etc.
  • Works closely with all coaches to gather scores, specific game-related information etc.
  • Responsible for the design and production of game programs and media guides.
  • Manages the daily communications responsibilities for the athletic department.
  • Facilitates the College of DuPage's social media outlets for the athletic department.
  • Compiles athletic competition statistics and assembles historical records for the athletic department.
  • Works in collaboration with the College of DuPage media department, as required.
  • Liaise with the student newspaper representatives (The Courier) to maximize the exposure of the teams via this source.
  • Coordinates photography for individual sports.
  • Assists the athletic administration with additional duties, as assigned.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Bachelor's Degrees required.
      • Master's Degree preferred.
    • Experience
      • Some experience writing and editing sports information and news articles required.
      • Prior experience working in a Sports Information Director's office at another college preferred.


    Working Conditions:

  • Standard office equipment.
  • Travel required with athletic teams.
  • Occasionally working in inclement weather conditions.
  • Much of the work will be required during evening hours.
  • Experience working with computers, scoreboards, message centers, and public address equipment.


  • Hiring Range:
    9 Salary/Starting salary beginning at $54,604, based on experience.

    Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
