Job Summary
The University Memorial Center (UMC) with CU Boulder is currently accepting applications for Custodians! This position provides daily cleaning and sanitization for UMC Custodial Services to provide a welcoming learning and social environment. Additionally, this role is responsible for the daily cleaning, weekly deep cleaning, and seasonal cleaning projects of the UMC. The position, at times, performs emergency clean up duties in accordance with established University guidelines. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Clean UMC Public Areas:
- Clean and sanitize all public areas daily, including but not limited to lounges, study coves, foyers, break rooms, entryways, hallways, and stairways.
- Daily cleaning is performed multiple times throughout the workday based on assigned tasks by the Custodial Services Manager.
- The cleaning includes: sweeping, mopping of all hard surfaces (tile and wood flooring), dusting windows and other glass surfaces, vacuuming carpets, emptying waste receptacles, and wiping down counters, tables, chairs and all high touch point areas.
- Follow daily cleaning protocols to clean assigned bathrooms on a routine basis.
- Clean and sanitize bathroom fixtures (toilets, urinals, sinks), sweep and mop floors, wipe down stalls, walls, and dispensers, cleaning mirrors, restock various dispensers with the appropriate products and empty waste receptacles.
- Clean various office, study and tenant spaces as assigned.
- Sweep and mop hard surfaces, vacuum carpets where appropriate, empty waste receptacles, wipe down counters and all high touch points, and dust and clean windows as needed.
- Seasonal projects include stripping and refinishing tile floors, shampooing carpets, deep cleaning office spaces that include vent-cleaning, wall wipe downs, upholstery cleaning of office furniture, window cleaning, and additional projects as assigned.
- Respond as-needed for snow removal, specialty, or emergency work, which could include; clean-up of water or debris, moving and assisting in moving furniture, emergency clean up, deep-water extraction, and disinfection process.
- Apply deicer for snow removal for areas on the outside of the UMC including sidewalks, patios, and ramps to ensure areas are open and safe.
- Assist UMC Maintenance or UMC Set-up Operations as-needed.
What You Should Know
The anticipated shifts for these positions are:
- Sunday - Thursday 12:30pm - 9:00pm.
- Tuesday-Saturday 12:30pm -9:00pm.
- Second shift differential is 7.5% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4pm and 11pm, Monday through Thursday).
- Third shift differential is 14% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 11pm - 6am, Monday through Friday).
- Weekend shift-differential is 20% (Shall be paid for all hours worked when half or more of the scheduled work hours fall between 4pm - 6am, Friday through Monday).
- If hours are evenly split between shifts, the higher shift differential rate applies to all hours worked during the shift.
