Job Summary
This position provides bedded outpatient Substance Abuse and Mental Health Treatment to patients in the University of Utah hospital. This position will prescribe medications and provide short-term treatment for SUD/mental health disorders within their scope of practice and according to State Law.
Patient care interventions are short, highly intensive, and focused on resolving mental health crisis in the least restrictive manner possible.
Care is individualized to the needs of each patient:
Crisis evaluation focused on understanding individual needs
Psychiatric assessment of a person's mental health condition
Medication prescribing, if needed, for stabilizing symptoms
Solution-focused therapy and case management
Recommendations for next steps and connection to ongoing support
Crisis observation, if needed
Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
Required:
- Current licensure to practice as a Physician's Assistant from the State of Utah.
- Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
Preferred:
- Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements.
