Position Summary
The Office of General Counsel (OGC) provides legal research, analysis and legal services to Fordham University. All members of the OGC staff work collectively within OGC and Fordham University to mitigate legal risks, manage a variety of confidential and complex issues in a fast-paced higher education environment, exercise independent judgment and function effectively with internal and external audiences.
Essential Functions
- Plays a key role in managing performance metrics, project timelines, various reports, data requests, and communication by tracking and driving completion of key deliverables.
- Manages the OGC budget and expenditures, including preparing budget reports, processing bills for payment, and assisting with outside counsel billing.
- Conducts legal research pertinent to the office's work, assists in preparing training materials, and notarizes documents.
- Provides comprehensive legal and regulatory support, including litigation assistance (compiling information, research, responding to subpoenas, assisting with motions and memoranda), managing and coordinating various organizational filings and registrations (State Charity, routine, faculty visas, Conflicts of Interest, Antitrust), and overseeing music licensing in collaboration with relevant internal and external stakeholders.
- Provides research and project support by conducting legal research under attorney direction and assisting with the preparation of training materials and presentations.
- Manages comprehensive contract lifecycle support, including reviewing, negotiating, and preparing College contracts under attorney direction, advising departments on contractual business terms, processing contracts for signature, and implementing and maintaining the contract database.
- Provides comprehensive administrative, logistical, and records management support for the OGC. Key responsibilities include managing all office correspondence, maintaining OGC and attorney calendars, coordinating meetings and travel, overseeing facilities reservations, assisting with information requests and website maintenance, preparing onboarding documents, and maintaining all office files and tracking ongoing matters.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three (3) years of experience as a paralegal in a law firm or corporate legal environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
- Notary Public License or agree to obtain a Notary license within the first year of employment.

- Adept at navigating a busy workload, maintaining productivity and composure while handling multiple projects, tight deadlines, and unexpected interruptions.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Powerpoint), Google platform, Adobe tools; experience with desktop publishing and web software.
- Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at a college or university is strongly preferred.
Minimum Starting Salary: $80,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $90,000
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
