Research Analyst

Job Summary

As part of the Utah Criminal Justice Center (UCJC), the Research Analyst will assist with the design, implementation, and analysis of various studies that support a broad range of agency projects, programs, and policy initiatives in the areas of criminal justice and public safety.



Responsibilities
Essential Functionss
  • Collaboratively work on an interdisciplinary team to support the initiatives of the UCJC
  • Build and maintain cooperative relationships with criminal justice agencies, treatment providers and other stakeholders
  • Assess criminal justice agencies and treatment providers for adherence to evidence-based practices
  • Analyze assessment data and interpret results
  • Author reports on interpreted assessment data
  • Coach and support criminal justice agencies and treatment providers in implementing assessment recommendations
  • Create and supply resources for criminal justice agencies, treatment providers and other stakeholders to assist them in the implementation of evidence-based practices
  • Facilitate trainings on evidenced-based practices to criminal justice agencies, treatment providers and other stakeholders
  • Research evidenced-based approaches to the reduction of recidivism and criminal justice approaches, models and interventions
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related scientific field, or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience), plus two years of related experience. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills required.
  • A valid Utah Driver's License may be required in certain departments.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description


Preferences
Preference will be given to individuals with a master's degree with major course work in criminology, sociology, psychology, social work, continuous quality improvement, organizational development or a related field, and one to two years of recent experience in program evaluation, technical assistance, and related data compilation and/or research experience, preferably in an applied research environment.
