The Department of Otolaryngology in the Medical College of Georgia at Augusta University (AU) is seeking a part-time faculty member at the rank of Assistant Professor that will work a 0.75 FTE at AU and a 0.25 FTE at Charlie Norwood Veterans Affairs Medical Center for a combined 1.0 FTE. All AU faculty with VA appointments are subject to the policies of the University System of Georgia, and AU's only obligation is to that portion of the FTE and salary which is AU. This position does not meet the requirements to be on a tenure track.

Responsibilities

Teaching
Educate Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery residents and medical students in the OR and clinical office.

Clinical/Patient Care
Care for Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery patients.

Scholarship
Perform research in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery.

Other
All other related duties/tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications

MD or equivalent degree from an accredited college or university required. Board-certified or board certified eligible and have completed fellowship training in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery. Must be able to obtain a Georgia Medical License..

Assistant Professor- Early level career as a faculty member with appropriate post graduate training.

Required faculty employment qualifications for all USG institutions and all academic ranks within these institutions shall be:

- Consistent with the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)'s requirements for institutional accreditation;

- Evidence of ability as a teacher;

- Evidence of activity as a scholar and ability in all other duties assigned;

- Successful experience (which will necessarily be waived for those just entering the academic profession who meet all other requirements); and,

- Desirable personal qualities judged on the basis of personal interview, complete biographical data, and recommendations.

Shift/Salary/Benefits

This position is fiscal year based and works year-round. Amount of time worked is based on work commitment.

The intended work commitment or full-time equivalent (FTE) for this position is between 0.75 and 0.99 FTE. The FTE will be determined at the time of hire after discussions during the interview process with the successful candidate. Although this position is fully benefits eligible and can select from the robust University System of Georgia (USG) benefits package, this position is not considered full-time. Only positions at 1.0 FTE are considered full-time.

Assistant Professor- Salary and compensation is commensurate with education, experience, and achievements. The salary is subject to availability of funds.

The Medical College of Georgia (MCG) is one of the nation's largest medical schools by class size, with 304 students per class.
