Job Summary: The primary role of a Financial Aid Technician is providing students, parents, and staff with accurate and helpful information about the financial aid processes.This position requires the following customer service skills, a willingness to listen carefully, above average written and verbal communication skills, the ability to understand complex financial aid processes, and working well under pressure. In addition to providing information about financial aid, this position assists students in submitting the FAFSA and uploading requested documentation. Interactions with customers via the phone, emails, or in-person.Hours for this position are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Wednesday 10:30 am - 7:00 pm.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties: Provide students, parents, and staff with accurate and helpful information about the financial aid processes.
Customer Service functions:
Explain financial aid policies and procedures; assist students and others at Financial Aid Office front desk; answer telephone and email inquiries; assist students and staff with financial aid problems and concerns; refer students and others to proper offices or persons for assistance.
Clerical functions:
Assist students in submitting the FAFSA by uploading requested documentation and entering student data on computer systems, and imaging documentation.
Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- One (1) year paid, full-time experience in student services or providing excellent customer service.
Preferred Qualifications: Financial aid experience.Ability to speak Spanish.Knowledge of Banner system.Customer service on phones and through emails.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Experience working in an office environment. Ability to work well under pressure and within deadlines. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Attention to detail. Exemplary customer service skills (in-person, via telephone, email, or virtually). Dependable and trustworthy to work independently when other staff members are unavailable. Ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse population. High level of professionalism and self-motivation. Current and strong date entry computer skills. Ability to prioritize and efficiently perform a variety of tasks with constant interruptions. Ability to explain complex processes, policies and procedures to a variety of people. Ability to maintain the confidentiality of records and information. Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of diverse people, ability, culture, and ethnic background, to maintain good working relationships across the College. Ability to work with all groups in a diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic background of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities.
