Job Description

This position will be open until filled. Application review will begin 12/16/2018. For full consideration all application related material should be submitted by 12/15/2018.

The Dental Hygiene Instructor will be responsible for the following:
  • Provide didactic instruction in the Associate and/or Baccalaureate programs- may include nights and off-campus sites.
  • Provide clinical and lab instruction in the Associate program.
  • Attend faculty development in-services and program review which may include nights and weekends.
  • Maintain office hours for student advisement and remediation.
  • Participate in community service and program committee assignments which may include weekends.
  • Utilize various forms of online learning technology in teaching methodology.
  • Support the goals, missions, and core values of the dental hygiene program by building good relations through clear communication with the director, faculty, and students.


Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of a Dental Hygiene program accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
  • Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene degree from a regionally accredited College or University awarded before January 1, 2019.
  • Applicants must be currently enrolled or been awarded a Master's Degree in either Dental Hygiene, Education, Higher Education, Public Health, or equivalent degree in a health-related profession from a regionally accredited College or University.
  • Document a minimum of 5 years of full-time equivalent clinical experience practicing Dental Hygiene. Once year of experience is equal to 10-12 months of full-time practice. Part-time practice (a minimum of 2 days a week) for 10-12 months will be equivalent to 6 months full-time experience.
  • Provide evidence of a current CPR BLS Provider Card.
  • Provide evidence of an active Dental Hygiene license with local anesthesia and nitrous oxide permits or evidence of eligibility for a Nevada Dental Hygiene Limited License with local anesthesia and nitrous oxide permits. Please refer to NRS & NAC 631 for eligibility requirements.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior didactic and clinical teaching experience in a Dental Hygiene program.
  • Leadership/Management experience in a Dental Hygiene program.
  • Experience teaching and/or working with diverse student and staff populations.
  • Membership in the American Dental Hygienists' Association as well as Nevada's state and local component Dental Hygiene Associations and encouragement of participation in the student chapter of the American Dental Hygienists' Association.


Salary Starting Range

Initial salary placement is based on educational level and total years of full-time equivalent teaching experience. A maximum of 10 years of experience will be considered for initial salary placement purposes.
