Job Summary
We are a dynamic, growing laboratory investigating the pathogenesis of acute respiratory infections, including influenza and bacterial pneumonia. Our laboratory has identified type I interferons and dysregulated neutrophil responses as significant mechanisms underlying severe influenza and bacterial pneumonias. We currently have 2 funded projects to study alterations in neutrophil phenotypes during acute respiratory infections and to conduct translational work in human subjects examining the role of aging in severity of influenza infections. The successful candidate will have an experience in immunology and microbiology, murine models of disease, collaborative mindset, willingness to learn new skills, dependability, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities*
Performing research studies- molecular biology and immunology assays (e.g., ELISA, isolation of RNA and PCR, flow cytometry)- animal (mouse) studies including survival surgeries and monitoring

General maintenance of lab equipment and inventory, lab cleanliness, restocking of solutions, etc.

Maintaining documentation and compliance with research regulations and policies, including lab safety, renewing IACUC protocols, and inspections

Required Qualifications*
BS/BA or equivalent in biology, chemistry, or related scientific field4-5 years of molecular biology and immunology experience including cell culture, animal (mouse) procedural work

Desired Qualifications*
Master's in related field

Supervisory and financial management experience

Additional Information
This is a 1 year term limited position with the possibility of extension. Extension will be based on the availability of funding and performance.
