Position Summary
Big Bend Community College invites applications for an Associate (part-time) Medical Assistant Faculty position. This position is responsible to prepare and teach courses in the Medical Assistant program. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online, and on or off camus assignments/labs.

This position reports to the Director of Health Education Programs and works closely with the Allied Health Coordinator.

Big Bend Community College (BBCC) is a comprehensive public community college serving a large, rural district in central Washington State. BBCC's main campus is located in the city of Moses Lake (pop. 24,009) in Grant County, situated on the former Larson Air Force Base. In addition to the central campus, BBCC has learning centers in seven outlying communities that provide adult basic education, high school completion, and English Language Learning programs as gateways to college. We are accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and we serve approximately 4,000 students, with an annualized FTE of approximately 2,000.

Associate Faculty receive quarterly contracts. Payment is based on $743.75/per lecture credit.

Essential Job Duties

Responsibilities will include, but not be limited to:

Prepare and teach assigned medical assistant core curriculum courses (MA 111, MA 112, and MA 113) in accordance with the Master Course Outline and in consultation with the Allied Health Coordinator and the Director of Health Education Programs.
Maintain an educational environment that promotes student learning and success.
Meet the class times as required by the quarterly schedule.
Assist students with questions and projects related to the courses being taught.
Maintain frequent communication with their students.
Teach and maintain safety practices in the labs.
Refer students to the appropriate college resources as needed.
Post syllabi to the portal for each course taught.
Maintain and submit grades and attendance reports to college personnel when required.
Maintain student course materials for two (2) quarters beyond the quarter of attendance.
Submit assessment data in consultation with the Allied Health Coordinator.
Assist with development, selection and/or recommend selection of instructional materials for courses being taught.
Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online, and on or off campus assignments/labs.

Minimum & Desirable Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Current and unencumbered Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or LPN/RN license.
Recent clinical experience in an outpatient healthcare setting.
Experience working directly with individuals from diverse academic, age, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

ADDITIONAL DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

At least one (1) year clinical experience in an outpatient healthcare setting.
Experience teaching at a community college within the previous three years.
Experience using innovative teaching techniques.
Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
