Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Accessible Technology Services Coordinator, the incumbent will serve as a key technical advisor to the campus community on instructional materials and digital content accessibility-related issues. The incumbent will use assistive software and accessibility tools to review and remediate digital content such as PDFs, documents, video and audio, presentations, etc. The incumbent will manage captioning workflow for the campus, including providing supervision to student labor, proofing and editing captions, adding them post-production, working with content creators across campus, interacting with an outside vendor, and offering training to staff and faculty.

Incumbent will work with faculty and instructional designers to ensure accessibility of materials posted to the LMS, including serving as the content remediation lead for Blackboard Ally and ensuring online courses meet accessibility standards for course certification. The incumbent will collaborate with Services to Students with Disabilities to ensure that online courses in the LMS and multimedia are accessible to students with applicable accommodations. The incumbent will also work cooperatively with various campus constituents to ensure that web-based digital content meets accessibility standards and guidelines. Workflow is determined by multiple priorities across various departments on campus.

The incumbent will train the larger CSUSB community on best practices and develop documentation on accessibility techniques. Duties will also include direct support to the Accessible Technology Services Coordinator in support of larger Accessible Technology Initiative (ATI) goals by maintaining documentation and assisting the Accessible Technology Services Coordinator to compile ATI annual report to the CSU Chancellor's Office. As Instructional Materials (IM) lead for the ATI, incumbent shall serve as a key technical advisor to the Accessibility Services Coordinator regarding instructional materials and digital content accessibility-related issues and assist in the development of digital content related standards, policies, and documentation. The incumbent will assist in reporting on workflow and success metrics including a total number of projects completed on an annual basis.

Participation in various subcommittees and working groups, including a systemwide community of practice conference calls, will be required. The incumbent will work collaboratively with other Accessible Technology Services staff.

Candidates should have a thorough working knowledge of digital content accessibility best practices and a familiarity with assistive technologies. Additionally, the incumbent.

shall have a working knowledge of disability laws and accessibility guidelines including the ADA, Section 508, EO 111, and UDL principles and best practices.

Employment Status: Full time, exempt, temporary with the possibility of converting to permanent.

Work Schedule
  • Generally, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Some weekends and evenings may be required.

Education and Experience:
  • Must possess a Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience to the duties or responsibilities specified
  • Working knowledge of document accessibility, including PDF remediation
  • Working knowledge of captioning tools and workflows
  • Must know various state and federal legislation that pertain to accessibility
  • Familiarity with assistive technologies
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with constituents with diverse priorities.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and follow-up skills to ensure workflow progression within stated deadlines

Anticipated Hiring Range: $4,372.00 - $4,591.00/month

Classification Range: $4,372.00 - $10,792.00/month
