Primary Purpose of Organization Unit:
Provide clinical mental health services for students of the University of North Carolina, Pembroke.

Primary Purpose of Position:
The position is designed for individuals interested in meeting the requirements for licensure in the state of North Carolina and working with a multi-disciplinary team to focus on delivering clinical services to residential students.

Established in 1887 as a school for the education of American Indians, The University of North Carolina at Pembroke serves a distinctly diverse student body and encourages inclusion and appreciation of the values of all people. This is a time-limited, grant-funded position, funded through April 30, 2023.

The position includes housing (on-campus apartment) and a meal plan.

The responsibilities of the Counselor In Residence position include:
1. Providing individual and group counseling services to residential students
2. Providing crisis intervention and after-hours services to residential students as needed
3. Conducting educational, supportive, and skill-building programs in the residence halls focused on mental wellbeing
4. Providing consultation, support, and training to staff of UNCP Housing and Residence Life
5. Attending clinical and staff meetings for CAPS.
6. Attending Housing and Residence Life meetings as best serves the department.

This position requires living on campus and providing services at times that are accessible to residential students.

This position will be housed in Counseling and Psychological Services, but will be a liaison for Housing and Residence Life.

Supervision for licensure is included and will be provided by CAPS staff.

This position is designated as Mandatory Personnel: Mandatory Employees: Employees whose presence has been determined to be mandatory to University operations during certain types of adverse weather or emergency events



Management Preference:
Experience working in a college counseling center. Experience working in university housing department.

Lic or Certifications Required by Statute or Regulation: License eligible in NC as a licensed clinical mental health counselor or licensed clinical social worker or equivalent.
