ABOUT THE ECE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at UTEP (http://ece.utep.edu) offers an ABET-accredited Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree, a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Electrical Engineering, a Master of Science in Computer Engineering, and a Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering. A proposal for a new BS in Computer Engineering is currently under consideration by University authorities. The department has an enrollment close to 520 undergraduate and over 85 graduate students (M.S. and Ph.D. students). The ECE faculty is actively involved in sponsored research with annual expenditures of more than $2 million. Research activities are carried out in multiple research laboratories at the Department and at research centers in the College and the University.


Job Description:


The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant/Associate Professor to begin in fall 2022.

The Department is primarily interested in candidates who will contribute to the growth of research and academic programs in autonomous systems, robotics, control systems, and digital engineering. We are interested in candidates who can lead department growth, complement current expertise, and contribute to the Cyber Systems and the Smart Systems interdisciplinary research focus areas at the UTEP College of Engineering through fundamental disciplinary and/or application-specific research. Priority will be given to the overall originality and promise of the candidate's work and potential to contribute to the ECE Department's and UTEP's vision and mission of providing access to excellent higher education.

Candidates will be expected to engage in undergraduate and graduate teaching, contribute institutional and professional service, and develop vigorous, externally funded research programs in their technical areas. The application materials should clearly demonstrate the potential of the candidate to succeed in meeting these expectations.


Requirements:


A Ph.D. in electrical and/or computer engineering or a related field. Commitment to undergraduate and graduate education. Demonstrated scholarly achievements as evidenced by a track-record of publications. Demonstrated potential for establishing an extramurally funded research program. Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in academia. Excellent communication skills are required.

A commensurate record of successful industrial/academic activities, including funded research, teaching experience, and scholarly publications, will be required for applicants at the associate professor level.
