Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $3,352 - $3,620 per month

Full Classification Salary Range: $3,352 - $5,639 per month

  • This is a full-time (equivalent to 40 hours per week), probationary, non-exempt position.


The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

The Department Administrative Support Coordinator II is expected to perform standard duties, including coordinating the department office (consisting of twenty tenured and tenure-track faculty, fifteen to eighteen full and part-time lecturers, two technicians, two to four Teaching Associates, six to seven Graduate Assistants, and twenty to twenty-five student assistants. Under the general supervision of the department chair, the Department Administrative Support Coordinator II supports the mission of the Department of Music by serving as the chief administrative support to the Chair or designee, and the coordinator and public relations resource for the department, campus, off-campus organizations, and general public in all matters relating to the Music Department.

Key Qualifications
  • Expertise in using office systems and ability to use a broad range of technology, systems, and software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills to serve as front-line for a variety of high-level campus and community individuals
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, shifting priorities, critical deadlines and consistently provide quality customer service including independently handling multiple work unit priorities and projects.
  • Ability to plans and execute a variety of processes and events involving coordinating and providing clerical and administrative support functions.
  • Experience processing faculty time sheets, experience entering the departmental course schedule, and utilizing campus specific programs (i.e. PeopleSoft, DocuSign, Google Suite, 25 Live, etc.) strongly preferred.

Education and Experience
  • Completion of a high school diploma, technical/vocational program or their equivalent.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative support experience.
  • Experience as work lead or providing work direction.



Department Summary

Our program provides undergraduate and graduates instruction in music for those planning professional careers as performers, composers, and studio teachers, as well as those preparing for advanced degrees in performance and composition. It also provides State-approved subject matter preparation required for a California teaching credential in music, and graduate instruction for students planning professional and academic careers or seeking professional growth as K-12 teachers or junior college instructors.
