The Coordinator of Candidate Program Services will serve as an integral part of the SOE and EPP. Our unit supports over 30 initial licensure programs that include clinical practice. Recruiting and retaining top scholars will increase our enrollment and retention metrics. This position will be instrumental in supporting hundreds of teacher candidates annually.

Each semester, the SOE/EPP supports several students during their clinical practice & internship leading to initial licensure. The North Carolina Department of Public Instruction have mandated an increased number of requirements surrounding how we monitor, support and report teacher candidates and clinical practice interns.

The Coordinator of Candidate Program Services provides comprehensive support to educator preparation candidates by coordinating field experiences, promoting student success initiatives, and guiding candidates through the field experience placement process.

The Coordinator works collaboratively with faculty, advisors, school district partners, and university offices to ensure students successfully complete program milestones, field experiences, and transition into the clinical practice internship semester. The position also develops and facilitates educational programming designed to increase candidate success and retention.

Job Description:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary resource for teacher candidates regarding program progression and field experiences.



  • Monitor student progress through educator preparation milestones and identify students who may benefit from additional support.

  • Collaborate with faculty and academic advisors to develop intervention strategies that promote student retention, persistence, and timely graduation.

  • Provide individualized guidance regarding professional expectations, program requirements, and career readiness.

  • Coordinate orientation sessions for newly admitted education students and candidates entering field and clinical experiences.

  • Connect students with university resources including tutoring, academic support, counseling, financial aid, accessibility services, and career development.

  • Develop student success initiatives that foster engagement, professional growth, and academic achievement.


Management Preference:
Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in a related field.



  • Hold a valid teaching license.

  • Knowledge of educator preparation programs, clinical experiences, and teacher licensure processes, and student information systems.

  • Experience coordinating placements.

  • Knowledge of NC state educator licensure requirements.
