Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities
- Lead, teach, and supervise campers during their time at RBGA to ensure a successful camp experience.
- Supervise campers at all times.
- Apply basic youth development principles such as relationship development, involvement, and youth empowerment while working with campers.
- Follow and enforce all safety guidelines.
- Create and develop activities for campers that follow RBGA's mission.
- Prep and teach all camp activities, including experiments, crafts, games, and more.
- Actively participate in all program duties as assigned.
- Modify activities as needed based on campers' interests and abilities.
- Review camp curriculum and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain high standards of health and safety for campers
- Provide care for each camper under your supervision.
- Be alert to campers' needs and assist with personal or health related problems; discuss with camp director when appropriate.
- Help monitor supplies, equipment, and facilities to ensure proper utilization, care, and maintenance.
- Be a role model to campers in your attitude and behavior.
- Set a good example for campers, including cleanliness, punctuality, personal language, appearance, health habits, sportsmanship, and manners.
- Represent RBGA when interacting with parents, caregivers, or community partners.
- Provide parents with appropriate feedback and information as needed for their campers to have a successful camp experience.
- Help relay pertinent camper information to community partners.
- Provide extraordinary guest service to all campers, parents, caregivers, and RBGA colleagues.
- Assist with other activities, programs, and seasonal events as needed by performing other relevant duties as assigned.
- This position is active and requires frequent walking, standing, bending, and lifting program materials. Work takes place both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Programs occur in public spaces that may be crowded, noisy, and fast-paced. Staff regularly interact with children, families, and Garden guests.
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Department may hire employee at one of the following job levels:
Program Assistant,, I: Requires little to no related experience.
Program Assistant,, II: Requires at least 1 year of related experience.
Preferences
Excellent customer service skills
Self-directed, punctual, enthusiastic, and highly organized
Experience crafting or creating backgrounds, sets, props, or other decorative elements
Previous experience working festivals or special events
