Job Summary:
We are currently seeking skilled and team-oriented applicants for the following position: Director of New Media. It is the responsibility of the Director of New Media to design, organize, implement, facilitate, oversee and evaluate all faces of Media Services needed for the EWU Athletic Department, which is a member of the NCAA Division I FCS as well as the Big Sky Conference.

The salary for this position is $41,572.08 up to $47,064, where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in graphic design, sports marketing, visual communication or related field
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a field related to digital media services in intercollegiate athletics or commensurate experience.
  • Experience with photo/video editing software.
  • Experience working with a variety of media formats and multimedia files.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge and experience with digital video editing software (i.e., Final Cut Pro, Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.)
  • Working knowledge and experience with digital cameras and lighting setup for photo and video shoots. (Knowledge of white balance, focus, aperture, gain, aspect ratios, frame rate, audio levels, etc.)
  • Valid drivers license.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a culturally responsive and flexible approach that is supportive to the diverse needs, including universal accessibility, or our students, staff, faculty and the public.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience with intercollegiate athletics working with digital media at the Division I level.
  • Experience with basic web design.

Job Duties:
MEDIA DEVELOPMENT- GRAPHIC DESIGN, PHOTO AND/OR VIDEO:
  • Creation of digital/print marketing materials for in-stadium, social media and signage, both on campus and large-scale billboards.
  • Direct and manage, strategically, the outsourcing of all video content production.
  • Ensure all game footage is properly archived.
  • Manage a team of student employees to assist in building the visual brand for EWU Athletics.
Percent of Time: 40

MEDIA DEVELOPMENT-ONLINE PLATFORMS:
  • Management of athletic department website GoEags.com, including updating sub-pages, video and images.
  • Direct and oversee the strategic direction of all social media activity for the EWU Athletic Department, including every department and team-owned social media account.
  • Serve as departments point of contact for all recruiting initiatives.

MARKETING & STEWARDSHIP:
  • Assist in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of marketing plans for The Athletics Department.
  • Assist in the development of marketing concepts/ideas, writing scripts and producing commercials for the advance of athletics and Eastern Washington University as a whole.
  • Provide graphic design work for various marketing and student-athlete oriented materials, i.e. season tickets, buck slips, posters, forms, flyers, senior frames, hallway items.
  • Assist the Director of Marketing in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of marketing plans for the Athletics Department.
Percent of Time: 15



OTHER DUTIES:
  • Oversight and approval of all Athletics brand and apparel requests.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Conditions of Employment:
Travel may be required a minimum of twenty (20) nights per year for media coverage.

Applicants must be able to maintain a thorough knowledge of NCAA and institutional rules, regulations and policies particularly as they apply to media relations and off-campus entities.

This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value; as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
