Assistant Professor-Research Track-Faculty Faculty Position in Immunology, Lymph Node Biology, and Multicentric Castleman Disease-Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Location: Philadelphia, PA
Open Date: Apr 10, 2026
Deadline: Apr 11, 2028 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure research track. Expertise is required in the specific area of of human immunology with a focus on lymph node biology, stromal cell biology, and/or immune-mediated diseases (in particular, multicentric Castleman disease and other hyperinflammatory syndromes). Required experience includes multiomic data generation and analysis, in-depth understanding with human clinical data and integration, and strong grounding in molecular and cellular signaling, including biochemical and mechanistic approaches. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include developing and leading an independent research program focused on immunological mechanisms of disease, in particular, multicentric Castleman disease with emphasis on lymph node, stromal cell biology, immune dysregulation, and hyperinflammation. The candidate must perform reductionist experimental approaches (human and mouse immunology ex vivo and in vivo work) and apply multiomic approaches (e.g., single-cell transcriptomics, spatial analysis, epigenomics, proteomics) to define disease mechanisms by integrating molecular signaling and biochemical pathways with systems-level analyses.

The successful candidate will join a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment with strong integration across immunology, pathology, and systems biology. Candidates are expected to establish an externally funded research program and contribute to collaborative initiatives across the Perelman School of Medicine and affiliated institutions.
