Job Summary


The University of Colorado Boulder Department of Integrative Physiology seeks an enthusiastic and highly motivated Professional Research Assistant (PRA) to join a collaborative research team spanning the Sleep, Inflammation, and Neuropathology (SIN) Lab and the OG Lab: Brain State Dynamics and Sleep Biophysics.

This position supports innovative, NIH- and DoD-funded research investigating how sleep and neuroimmune processes interact to influence brain function, particularly following traumatic brain injury and in models of neurological disease. The successful candidate will contribute to multidisciplinary projects integrating behavioral neuroscience, neuroinflammation, and systems-level sleep physiology using preclinical rodent models.

Who We Are


The Department of Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado Boulder is a dynamic and collaborative research environment spanning molecular, systems, and translational physiology. The SIN Lab and OG Lab work at the intersection of sleep biology, neuroimmunology, and neural circuit dynamics, leveraging advanced approaches to understand how brain states are regulated in health and disease.


What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Rodent handling, husbandry, and colony management.
  • Rodent manipulations including drug administration and surgical procedures (e.g., EEG implantation, electrophysiology).
  • Biochemical assays for protein and nucleic acid quantification.
  • Immunohistochemistry of brain tissue.
  • Fluorescence and light microscopy.
  • Data collection, management, and reporting of experimental results.
  • Statistical analysis and data visualization.
  • Maintenance and organization of laboratory records, logs, and notebooks.

What We Require

  • B.A. or B.S. in Physiology, Neuroscience, Biology, or a related field.
  • At least one year of research experience.
  • Experience with data handling.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative research team.
