The Medical Review Coordinator at the Utah Lions Eye Bank is responsible for evaluating the medical history of potential eye donors to determine their eligibility for transplantation. This role involves completing donor charts, reviewing medical records, and applying knowledge of medical standards and regulations to ensure donor suitability. Additionally, the Medical Record Coordinator assists in training staff and maintaining compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

Responsibilities
Essential ResponsibilitiesPerforming medical reviews of potential eye donor charts to assess eligibility for transplantation
Releasing donor charts for research and discard purposes
Training staff on donor chart completion and the release process for research.
Ensure compliance with regulations and policies, uphold ethical standards, maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA regulations, follow established quality assurance policies, and participate in required training.
Providing real time feedback to staff related to donor chart completion and coordination; provide summary reports to respective leaders
Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).
Quality Assurance Specialist, I: Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 2 years of directly related work experience or a master's (or equivalency) degree.
Preferences
Associate's degree in biology, chemistry or other scientific discipline in a related field or equivalency required.
Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also preferred.
Experience with medical terminology also preferred.
