The Student Academic Success Center at the University of Colorado Boulder is pleased to invite applications for a Lecturer to teach two sections of ARSC 1080, College Writing and Research for the Fall 2026 semester. The course serves primarily first-year students and meets the General Education requirement for Written Communication. The course carries 4 credits and prepares students to write and present for multiple audiences.
This is an in-person course, and both sections meet Tuesday and Thursday with a Friday recitation. The position has an anticipated start date of August 2026 for the Fall 2026 Semester. Who We Are
The Office of Undergraduate Education (OUE) is a campus office reporting to the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Planning and Assessment within the Division of Academic Affairs. Our charge is to examine the undergraduate student experience, assess student and
program outcomes, identify gaps, and launch and support student-facing campus initiatives to promote student success. OUE oversees a variety of academic programs; international programs, including Education Abroad and International Student & Scholar Services and the Program in Exploratory Studies, which is home to approximately 25% of entering first year students each year. The Office is also the home to the campus first-year advising network and cross-campus advising initiatives. We interface with a wide array of campus partners to conceptualize and develop new student success initiatives that will enable CU-Boulder to recruit and retain a highly competitive and diverse undergraduate student body.
The Student Academic Success Center (SASC) is a learning community for students who are first generation and/or low-income. We are focused on supporting student success from matriculation to graduation, our approach integrates instruction in core academic subjects, individualized advising, and social integration through career planning and community gatherings. We offer instruction in gateway science courses, mathematics, leadership, and writing and rhetoric and house student support programs, including TRiO McNair and Student Support Services.
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Teach two sections of ARSC 1080 College Writing and Research (4 credits each) in the Fall semester of 2026
- Train and mentor undergraduate instructional assistants who work in the classroom.
- Attend training in inclusive pedagogy.
- Complete early alerts and communicate with department coordinators to support classroom success and college retention.
- In addition to preparing for and holding classes [face-to-face], teaching involves maintaining currency in the content area related to the teaching assignment, evaluating students' work, assessing student outcomes, maintaining appropriate records, and holding office hours.
What You Should Know
This position will be a 75% time appointment.

What We Require
- One year's experience teaching writing and rhetoric at the college level.
- Master's degree in writing and rhetoric or a related field.

- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team of students, staff, and faculty.
