Clackamas Community College (CCC) seeks to hire an

Automotive Parts Technician
. This is a part-time, classified, non-exempt, and non benefits-eligible position. PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • Procure classroom supplies and repair parts for the Automotive Lab

  • Maintain inventory control and related accounting records

  • Track repair orders and parts and materials sales

  • Act as cashier and perform clerical tasks associated with billing and collections

  • Determine parts and materials needs and order parts and materials

  • Transport parts and materials between vendors and College


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

1. Administrative and Customer Service (35% of Time)

1.1. Serve as information resource in response to inquiries from students, public and college personnel regarding department activities and programs. 1.2. Provide information about the department, events, and programs department via phone, email and mail.1.3. Maintain department forms and procedures, ensuring accurate record keeping.1.4. Explain procedures to customers and students about current policy for automotive repairs.
2. Parts Professional (25% of Time)

2.1. Operate and maintain tool room.2.2. Check out/in tools, supplies and equipment following established procedures.2.3. Determine inventory needs; order parts and materials to meet customer needs and maintain stock of parts and supplies.2.4. Arrange deliveries or pick-up parts from local vendors.2.5. Return damaged parts to vendors and ensure credit is received.
3. Service Writer (20% of Time)

3.1. Receive work order requests. Review applications, determine if requested repair meets needs of students, and contact customer to schedule work.3.2. Provide appropriate service information to customer and obtain work authorization from customers.3.3. Track repair orders in inventory/scheduling system, add notes and contact customers with updated information as needed.3.4. Open new repair orders and bill materials and parts to work orders.3.5. Accept payments and invoice repair orders.
4. Accounting (20% of Time)

4.1. Reconcile weekly payment reports; make deposits (cash, checks, and credit card transactions) with student accounts; submit reports to Business Services.4.2. Obtain competitive bids for parts and services as needed.4.3. Check incoming shipments; confirm accuracy of orders and shipments; and enter data into inventory system4.4. Complete requests for proposals with accurate account numbers and submit to business office for vendor payment.4.5. Create purchase order and process invoices for payment.4.6. Maintain inventory control system using Mitchell Management Inventory Control System and train others for proper use and maintenance of the system. 4.7. Conduct collections on past due accounts. Initiate phone calls, mail collection letters, and coordinate with student accounts to place accounts on hold according to policy/procedure.

GENERAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, other agencies, and the general public.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within the scope of the classification.
  • Participate in college committees when requested.
  • Maintain proficiency by attending training and meetings, reading materials, and meeting with others in areas of responsibility, which may require travel.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly manner.
  • Maintain student confidentiality, data integrity, and comply with all related college, state, and federal standards, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
:


  • Associate's degree or two-year technical degree and at least six months of related experience

    or
    any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to perform the duties as described.

  • Knowledge of automotive parts and supplies.

  • Knowledge of Mitchell Inventory Control System or similar inventory system.

  • Skill in organizing and tracking inventory.

  • Skill in records and systems maintenance.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

  • Ability to exemplify traits that reflect the College's culture, including integrity, a customer service orientation, cultural competency, trustworthiness, flexibility, and a willingness to change.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS OR LICENSES
:


  • Driver's license valid in the State of Oregon.

  • Valid forklift operator's license and ASE Parts Specialist Certification (P2) are required within the first year in this classification.
