Position Announcement
The Department of Digital Media (www.uvu.edu/digitalmedia) invites applications for a tenuretrack faculty position in Digital Audio to begin August 1, 2026.
The digital audio faculty member develops and teaches in one or more areas: audio engineering (software and hardware), music production, video game sound, sound design, film sound, audio restoration, and other audio topics. The faculty member engages in scholarly activities and creative works that contribute to the mission of the university, department, and profession. In addition, the faculty provides service at the department, college, and university levels.
The Digital Media Department offers a B.S. in Digital Audio, an A.A.S. in Digital Audio, as well as programs in Digital Cinema Production, Animation and Game Development, and Web Development and Design.

Summary of Responsibilities
- Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms, online, and laboratories, through demonstration, discussion, visual aids, individualized instruction, lectures, and other appropriate methods for educational delivery.
- Plans, prepares, and follows an approved course of study that includes measurable objectives for each course taught. Prepares instructional materials. Evaluates student performance using appropriate testing and grading procedures.
- Engages in scholarly activities including applied research and produces scholarly/creative work consistent with disciplinary specialization and the academic goals of the department.
- Serves the department, college, and university by attending departmental meetings, working on committees, and accepting other service appointments.
Qualifications / Licenses / Certifications
- Graduation from an accredited institution with a master's degree in a digital audio-related field
- College-level teaching experience or relevant industry experience.
- Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content.
- Graduation from an accredited institution with a doctorate in a digital audio-related field
- At least three (3) years of experience teaching a variety of digital audio courses at the university level.
- At least three (3) years of experience working professionally in the audio field.
- Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university.
- Expert understanding and knowledge of AVID ProTools DAW, including official credentials to confer certifications upon qualified students.
- Frequent talking, hearing, sitting, walking, and standing.
- Frequent use of fine-hand manipulation is associated with the use of a computer.

- Ability to certify students on official AVID Pro Tools certifications.

- Ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, students, agency administrators, and professionals within the animation and game development industry.
