Job Summary:
Join the Colorado School of Public Health as a Site Coordinator (Open Rank Research Services Intermediate - Senior Professional). This position is a key member of the school's Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity & Diabetes (LEAD) Center that will work within a small team of study collaborators at the Diabetes Prevention Program Outcomes Study (DPPOS) clinic located in Phoenix, AZ.
The DPPOS is the long-term, follow-up study to the landmark clinical trial, Diabetes Prevention Program, a multi-site, NIH-sponsored study which established the means of preventing type 2 diabetes in high-risk adults. In addition to studying the long-term effects of diabetes prevention, DPPOS has turned its attention to the study of Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias in this 30-year study cohort.
The Site Coordinator will help implement the study protocol, manage the daily tasks of visit scheduling, and conduct in-person and phone visits. This position will also conduct data and blood collections, process biospecimen, and assist with survey administration and quality assurance activities with minimal supervisory oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review eligibility reports and schedule study participants for phone, in-person, and imaging visits.
- Collect physical measurements, blood, and urine samples; process samples and ship to the central lab.
- Administer cognitive testing and health-related questionnaires.
- Act as primary contact for study participants, and conduct and oversee retention efforts.
- Perform data entry of visit forms and resolve data edits in a timely manner.
- Carry out study activities in compliance with the NIH IRB policies and the DPPOS protocol.
- Manage gift card program including program approval, purchasing of cards, and tracking and reconciling disbursements in accordance with university and department guidelines.
- Complete purchasing and travel expense reports with university administrative oversight.

The Lifecourse Epidemiology of Adiposity and Diabetes (LEAD) Center represents a collaboration at University of Colorado Anschutz between the Colorado School of Public Health and the Department of Pediatrics in the School of Medicine. The LEAD Center is a multidisciplinary research center that investigates and seeks to understand the developmental origins of health and disease, particularly obesity, type 1 and type 2 diabetes and the complex interplay of environmental exposures, genetic and epigenetic processes in critical developmental periods across the lifecourse.

Qualifications:
Intermediate level
- A bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- 1 year of experience in a research or clinical setting working with human subjects/patients.
- Willingness to be trained to draw blood and process blood and urine samples.
Senior level
- A bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
- 2 years of experience in a research or clinical setting working with human subjects/patients.
- Willingness to be trained to draw blood and process blood and urine samples.
Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.
Substitution: An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience following a research or clinical protocol.
- Experience drawing and processing blood.
- Experience working with Native American populations
- Experience interacting with the NIH IRB
- Experience working with an elderly population
- Experience administering oral glucose tolerance tests
- Knowledge of chronic diseases such as diabetes and obesity
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution
- Outstanding customer service skills
- Demonstrated experience in fostering a community that values a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives
- Ability to organize study activities and to develop and utilize tracking systems to maintain oversight of progress

Anticipated Salary Range:
The starting target salary for this position has been established as:
- Intermediate Professional: $51,000 - $64,000
- Senior Professional: $58,000 - $70,000
The above salary represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation depending on the level.
