Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Grounds and Transportation, the Foreperson supervises, coordinates, and provides general oversight of grounds personnel. They are responsible for the daily maintenance assignments and for maintaining campus hardscape and landscape.

This position requires work hours on Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm.
This position is on call 24 hours a day/7 days a week for snow removal duties and other campus emergencies.

Essential Functions
Supervises, coordinates, and provides general oversight of grounds staff at the direction of the Associate Director of Grounds and Transportation.

Responsible for the daily maintenance assignments of grounds staff, as well as making field decisions regarding the maintenance of campus hardscape and landscape.

Works closely with the Gardener, as well as other department personnel.

Conducts hands-on groundskeeping work as necessary.

Operates all Grounds equipment, heavy equipment, and vehicles, including the garbage truck.

Carries out weekend work as well as overtime assignments.

Responsible for coordinating the setup of items and other equipment as required for indoor and outdoor events.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent.

Must possess a valid commercial CDL and a Driver's License..

Minimum of 8 years of experience in the field of Grounds Maintenance, of which at least two years must be in a supervisory capacity.

Knowledge of all grounds maintenance equipment and vehicles, as well as working knowledge of all lawn care applications.

Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.

Knowledge of standard tools of the trade and the operation of power equipment.

Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles.

Ability to operate various types of equipment, including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other landscaping equipment.

Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.
