Job Description:

The Project Coordinator will join a vibrant team to assist with managing the day-to-day operations of and provide administrative support to a large, multi-site, research study focused on substance use and HIV (RISE-NE) in a fast-paced, high-volume research environment, led by Katie Biello, MPH, PhD.

The responsibilities fulfilled by the Project Coordinator ensure that a critical research project has optimal coordination. The Coordinator will facilitate communication, information exchange, and workflow among internal and external team members and collaborators. They will participate in calendar management and scheduling as well as lead the creation and dissemination of detailed meeting minutes to efficiently track progress on team member action items. They will prioritize tasks effectively and manage time thoughtfully for the project or subprojects. The individual in this role will identify, track, and promptly communicate upcoming engagements with the internal Brown research team and external project counterparts. In addition, the Project Coordinator will document, disseminate and archive work products and project findings for team members and other researchers to reference. Nurturing and sustaining relationships and communication with colleagues across various departments and units within Brown University, with external academic institutions, and with external non-academic organizations is imperative to this role. The Project Coordinator will prepare and revise progress reports, scientific manuscript submissions, scientific conference presentations, research grant or contact proposals, and institutional review board (IRB) and data use agreement (DUA) applications and/or amendments. This role entails working closely with the entire research team to help coordinate workflow and accomplish key tasks.

The ideal candidate will possess the necessary skills and genuine enthusiasm for being a part of a dynamic team conducting high-impact public health research. Beyond the required qualifications, candidates with experience in team-oriented settings, database organization, compiling progress reports, formatting manuscripts, and liaising with diverse institutions/corporations will be highly valued. This position often requires independent judgment and action

Education and Experience
  • Master's Degree and 1-2 years of relevant experience OR Bachelor's degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience.


Job Competencies

Required:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and time management capabilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and Google Workplace (Calendar, Drive, and Chat).
  • Proficiency with teleconferencing software (e.g., Zoom) and adept collaboration with remote colleagues.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently, prioritize responsibilities, meet deadlines, and independently problem solve while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both autonomously and as a research team member.
  • Professionalism in interactions with collaborators, colleagues, students, and research participants.
  • Willingness and ability to travel in and between Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Vermont approximately 3-4 times per year.


Strongly preferred, but not required:
  • Experience working in public health, healthcare, medicine, academics or related fields.
  • EPrior experience working in the fields of HIV and/or overdose prevention-either in a research or direct service capacity-is not required but strongly preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in project management tools such as Asana - preferred but not required.
  • Experience with website design, blog post composition, and/or crafting concise news releases.
  • Experience with DocuSign, Adobe Illustrator, and Microsoft Remote Desktop Protocol software.

This is a fixed term position with a current end date of 11/30/2026 which may be extended based upon available funding.
