Under the direction of the Associate Dean of the General Education Pathway, or designee, to develop and teach concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. Will require teaching courses in-person at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and/or online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities


  • Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
  • Manage the classroom/laboratory.
  • Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program evaluation.
  • Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Assess student performance and advise students on academic issues.
  • Collaborate with the advisory committee in the program area.
  • Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
  • Promote the education/training program, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to market MATC.
  • Support student organizations and activities.
  • Develop relationships with business and industry.
  • Complete program evaluation and follow-up.
  • Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in the field.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Only those who meet all of the base minimum requirements listed below will be considered.

Required Minimum Education: Must have at least ONE of the following:
  • Master's degree or higher in Physical Education, OR;
  • Master's degree or higher and at least eighteen (18) GRADUATE level credits in course work from an accredited college or university in Physical Education or from an area such as but not limited to: Kinesiology, Biology, Physical Education, Human Kinetics, Sports Management, Exercise Science, Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, or Community Health Education with course content that is within the discipline of Physical Education.
Industry or vendor certification: Must have both the following and should be detailed on the application or proof of certifications uploaded with application:
  • Current certification in American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support CPR/AED
  • Current certification in American Heart Association HeartSaver First Aid or American Red Cross First Aid

Preferred Qualifications in addition to the required minimums listed above:
  • Verifiable occupational work experience in a field other than education.
  • Experience in teaching, using, and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including face-to-face, blended, and 100% online.
  • Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English fluency

  • Online Information Management Systems -e.g. Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters
  • Blackboard Ultra - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems
  • Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology
  • Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (eg. social networking applications)


Supplemental Information

Start Date: This position supports the General Education Pathway and is available to start for the spring semester; approximately January, 2026 start date.

Hours: This position is a part-time pool position and will require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and/or online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Hours, location, and modality are based on enrollment and departmental need. Out of state applicants must be willing to relocate to the Milwaukee/SE Wisconsin area.

Salary: Beginning in the fall of 2024 the starting hourly wage for all part-time faculty is $40 per course hour of teaching. Part-time faculty are also compensated for an additional 45 minutes of time for each hour of instruction to cover office hours and prep time which is equivalent to $70 per hour. This starting hourly wage of $40 an hour is non-negotiable unless market conditions dictate otherwise.
