Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean for Arts and Sciences at Lincoln Center, the Associate Director for Student Success provides leadership in the establishment and coordination of student success and retention initiatives and programs in Fordham College.
Working in close collaboration with Fordham College at Lincoln Center and Fordham College at Rose Hill Deans' Office staff, Arts and Science faculty, and other constituencies across the university, the director balances appropriate use of data analytics with Fordham's Ignatian person-centered approach.
The role is expected to have a presence on both campuses as well as contribute to initiatives and processes overseen by the Vice Provost for Student Success (VPSS), serving as a conduit with FC (Fordham College).
Essential Functions
Provides leadership for and coordination of FC's efforts to improve student retention, academic progress, and success, and graduation rates.
Oversees the dean's office staff who provide academic counseling for at-risk students, develop and offer academic success workshops for FC students, such as workshops on test-taking, time management, and study skills.
Counsels students referred by academic advisors for complex case management.
Establishes close partnerships with other offices on campus, including the academic departments, Dean of Students and Residence Life, Campus Ministry, Career Services, Counseling and Psychological Services, and the Office of Disability Services.
Takes a data-driven approach to identify different groups of students (low-performing, high-performing, etc.), analyze indicators, and develop plans, in collaboration with faculty, dean's office staff, and the VPSS.
Plans events and develops communication strategies for student success programming and campus-based resources, such as tutoring.
Provides assessments as requested by the A&S leadership on programming, such as tutoring, to be shared on a regular basis with key stakeholders.
Contributes to FC events such as admissions webinars and those at the end of the academic year.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in higher education administration, advising, or related field required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a higher education setting, working directly on issues of advising, retention, and student success.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Proven ability to juggle multiple responsibilities, to organize and prioritize, and to work collaboratively.
Experience with data-driven approaches, including retention/advising software. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel, and Google apps. Proficiency in or willingness to learn Banner applications and web content management.
Understanding of, and ability to work well with all students, including students of color, students with disabilities, commuter students, first-generation college students, and international students.
Knowledge of national trends and literature regarding current issues and best practices in student success, retention, and progression, especially in the context of a private, residential college.
