Position Summary
Reporting to the Manager of Building Services, the Lead Carpenter performs and supervises independent work related to the maintenance and repair of campus interior/exterior structures and furnishings.
This position requires work hours from Monday to Friday, 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
This position is on call for emergency duties.
Essential Functions
Repairs and maintains flooring, roofs, doors, stairs, windows, signs, and other wooden/metal building/campus structures and components.
Makes major masonry repairs, including brick, tiles (ceramic, vinyl, other), concrete, asphalt, etc.
Services and installs bathroom walls, showers, enclosures, and other bathroom interior components
Responds to service calls; troubleshoots problems and service issues. Assists other carpenters and other trades on difficult tasks.
Assists in maintaining inventory and upkeep of the Carpenters' Shop.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager of Building Services and/or other appropriate administrator.
Manages the carpentry shop on days the general foreman is absent.
Set up CAD drawings with the IT department for special projects
Communicates with the general foreman on daily shop work orders, sets up and schedules projects.
Operates machinery for special events and set-ups.
Assists in carpentry operations with staff, completes work orders, and interacts with Facilities Maintenance Software.

Required Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent.
Minimum of 10 years in carpentry/construction or similar position.
Safety certifications on table saw and other shop equipment as required,
Ability to follow written instructions (work orders) and read furniture and equipment assembly schematics.
Must know how to use and operate power tools, gauges, computers, ladders, and other tools and equipment typical to this position.
Must know how to use and operate power tools and shop equipment typical to this position.
Valid Driver's License.
