Job Summary:

The Colorado Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CCTSI) provides infrastructure and core technology resources designed to enhance clinical and basic sciences, promote research excellence, and train the next generation of clinical/translational scientists.

This is a full time Laboratory Technician-I position. The purpose of the position is perform laboratory duties to support research protocols by means of sample processing, analysis, and documentation. Duties may include routine lab equipment maintenance, pipet calibration verifications, data entry, and other administrative duties to support the laboratory. Individuals in this position are expected to perform their work responsibilities in a semi-independent manner with oversight from more senior individuals in the laboratory (Sr. Professionals, Principle Professionals, and Associate Director).

Key Responsibilities:

Lab related: 70%
  • Responsible for processing human biological samples (e.g., blood and urine) through centrifugation and pipetting.
  • Logging samples into the laboratory information system and stored appropriately in the freezer. Incoming samples will also require database entry and proper storage.
  • Accurately enters data pertaining to protocols, quality controls, and equipment performance.
  • Receiving, accessioning specimens into Laboratory Information System and labeling the samples
  • Operating and troubleshooting laboratory instruments and equipment and performing routine preventative or corrective maintenance
  • Utilizing and maintain reagent including in specimen preparation
  • Reporting participant safety issue and specimen deficiencies



Administrative 30%
  • Maintaining, organizing stock inventory
  • Providing support with various administrative tasks and handling phone and email inquiries
  • Any other duty assigned by supervisor.



This Laboratory technician contributes to the overall efficiency of the laboratory by performing a variety of tasks, in a cost effective, accurate, and timely manner in compliance with operational procedures.



Work Location:

Onsite - This role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, Colorado.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have high school degree or GED and over 18 years of age
  • Two (2) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position





Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.



Preferred Qualifications:
  • Biology classwork, competent in Microsoft suite (Excel, Word, Teams), knowledge on how to use pipet, blood borne pathogens training

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $50,724 to $58,841.

The above salary range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
