Position Summary
Reporting to the Associate Director of Grounds & Transportation at Rose Hill, this position is responsible for maintaining and enhancing all gardens across the university property. This role encompasses a wide range of horticultural and landscaping duties, ensuring the aesthetic and functional integrity of the campus grounds.

This position requires work hours from Saturday to Wednesday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm. On-call 24/7 to respond to snow removal duties and other campus emergencies, as needed.



Essential Functions
Designs, prepares, and plants all flowerbeds (including annual displays), rose beds, trees, and shrubs while overseeing a comprehensive lawn care program.

Collaborates closely with the Grounds Foreman and crew to implement the lawn care program effectively.

Performs all the pruning and irrigation of (Indoor/Outdoor) ornamental trees, shrubs, and formal hedges throughout the campus.

Ensures proper irrigation of lawns and gardens, as needed.

Utilizes ladders and operates power tools safely and efficiently to execute assigned tasks.

Applies fertilizers and pesticides while monitoring lawns, trees, and shrubs for signs of disease or pest issues.

Recommends necessary plant materials and supplies to the Director, ensuring all tasks are adequately resourced.

Maintains professional relationships with vendors to secure required materials and services.

Supports the grounds team in maintaining all campus grounds including roadways, walkways, parking lots, and landscape.

Empties trash and recycling containers.

Supports the grounds team with snow removal tasks such as shoveling sidewalks, steps, and doorways.

Required Qualifications:
Accredited Degree in Horticulture, or a high school diploma equivalent.

Minimum of ten (10) years experience in the field of horticulture & landscaping.

Valid Driver's License.

Extensive knowledge of landscaping techniques and processes.

Must be able to operate equipment safely and instruct others on operating all equipment used within the department.

Demonstrated skills in leadership and organization.

Must be able to read and write in English and follow written instructions.
