PS Nurse Practitioner

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and passionate clinician to join our clinical team. This position will support the Epilepsy Division, with a focus on LTM monitoring and inpatient care. As part of a team-based approach supporting clinical needs, there is an expectation of periodic outpatient care for longitudinal care needs and the support of the Epilepsy program. While prior experience and/or familiarity with neurological care is preferred, additional training is also available for those with demonstrated aptitude and interest in the care of complex and/or chronic conditions, including the nuances of diagnosis and management of epileptic disorders.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
Takes complex medical histories on patients referred for consultation by academic and community physicians.
Performs physical examinations.
Orders laboratory tests, x-rays, special imaging studies and other diagnostic procedures.
Orders and supervises the administration of blood products.
Reaches tentative diagnosis of medical, surgical and other conditions.
Develops treatment plans in conjunction with attending physician to provide optimal patient medical management.
Participates in continuing medical education to include specialty and sub-specialty meetings, clubs, boards and conferences.
Assists in the collection of data for research projects.
Orders consultations and interacts with members of other specialty medical teams.
Participates in special projects and committee functions.

Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above.
Ability to provide care appropriate to the population served.
Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual.

Minimum Qualifications
Required
Licensure to practice as a Nurse Practitioner in the State of Utah.
Preferred
Certification in ACLS/BLS/NRP/ATLS may be required by your department or by privileging criteria.
Utah State prescriptive privileges.
Licensure is obtained by completing a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalency (the only equivalency to the Master's degree is current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner) and a National Certification which requires the successful completion of a nationally accredited examination.
UHPPM 1-56 requires that newly hired non-physician providers apply for credentialing and privileging at the time of hire.
This position is patient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated requirements. We protect our patients, coworkers and community by requiring all patient-sensitive employees to be immunized according to CDC standards and hospital policy. Limited exemptions may be made for documented medical contraindications or religious beliefs that object to vaccinations.
