Job Summary
The University of Utah's Scientific Computing and Imaging (SCI) Institute is hiring a Programs Manager to lead multiple programs in support of the One-U Responsible AI Initiative (RAI). The person in this position will provide programmatic and administrative leadership for One-U RAI programs, including faculty hiring and coordination of distinguished visitors, faculty fellows, and postdoctoral fellows programs. They will be responsible for supporting One-U RAI events and website communications and should have a passion for ensuring attendees and visitors have an exceptional experience.
The person in this position will play a pivotal role in the operational excellence of the One-U RAI. They must have strong communication skills, adaptability, curiosity, and will be expected to proactively address challenges that arise. Thus, candidates should be highly motivated, detail-oriented professionals comfortable with leading programs and activities from concept to execution with confidence. They should have the ability to work independently or on a team.
Responsibilities

Essential Functions1. Oversees daily program operations and coordinates program activities, including application deadlines and candidate review processes.2. Writes and edits program-related promotional materials and webpages to promote new and existing programs and activities.3. Facilitates cooperative and collaborative community and institutional relationships.4. Provides administrative support as needed, including support of committee meetings, events, and other activities.5. Develops and implements program goals and objectives.6. Prepares administrative and statistical reports on program status and progress and investigates improvement methods.
Problem SolvingThis position provides coordination and decision making for all activities of a specified program. Problems arising from coordination amongst stakeholders will be addressed by the incumbent who will refer to the manager and established committees for guidance.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience). Four to six years of progressively more responsible management experience. Background knowledge of hiring department's area of specialization in order to analyze, plan and draw conclusions for recommendations to superiors. Demonstrated leadership skills in planning and directing employees and processes in order to effectively monitor and develop subordinates and to ensure the smooth operation of department. Completion of provided supervisory training within one year of employment may be required. Master's degree in a related area may be preferred.
