Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
To support the needs of the special event exhibitions in the College of DuPage McAninch Arts Center, the ability to perform all duties associated with the position that are listed below as well as providing excellent customer service to the visitors.

  • Serve visitors of the Cleve Carney Museum of Art in one of three areas: Historical Timeline Entry, Gallery Entry, or Art Gallery by scanning or checking tickets, maintaining number of visitors in gallery, or monitoring visitor activity to maintain safety of patrons, art and to provide positive experience
  • Monitor and enforce a variety of rules set by the MAC at the College of DuPage.
  • Educate visitors about daily and upcoming events
  • Provide directional information to patrons and safety measures in case of evacuation.
  • Provide security and limit access to certain areas.
  • Provide prompt, professional and courteous responses to all patron concerns.
  • Communicate directly with visitors, including the general public, students, special-interest groups, and people with diverse learning style and abilities, providing prompt, professional and courteous responses to all patron concerns
  • Keep public area clean, pick up and dispose of any discarded items


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • High School Diploma/GED required.
    • Experience
      • Excellent customer service and data entry required.
      • Retail experience and/or volunteer-related experience preferred.
    • Licenses and Certifications
      • COD Training
        • Compliance Training


      Working Conditions:

    • Considerable public contact and hours of standing during shift.
    • Some heavy lifting.
    • Flexible hours including evenings and weekends (typically between 20-25 hours per week).
    • This position requires a background check at the Colleges expense.
    • Training will be provided prior to the exhibition opening.

      Hiring Range:
      2 Hourly - $16.01 per hour/16.01 - 16.01

      (FULL TIME ONLY) Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
