The Social Work Program in the Department of Behavioral Sciences at the University of Tennessee at Martin invites applications for a tenure track appointment at the rank of assistant or associate professor to begin August 2025. A Ph.D., D.S.W., or other doctoral degree and two years of post-MSW/MSSW work experience at the time of appointment are required. Rank will be determined based on the successful applicant's qualifications and evidence of excellence in the areas of teaching, scholarship, and service. In addition to required qualifications, preference will be given to applicants with the ability to teach at the graduate level, experience with distance learning and/or online course delivery, academic advising, recruitment, and knowledge of CSWE accreditation. Preference may be given to candidates with demonstrated experience in clinical social work/macro practice in rural areas. Service to the University, community, and profession, recruitment, academic advising, as well as maintaining an active scholarly agenda are expected.
The Social Work Program at UTM is housed in the Department of Behavioral Sciences, which also includes the Criminal Justice Program and the Sociology Program. The Department of Behavioral Sciences is in the College of Education, Health, and Behavioral Sciences. The Social Work Program is accredited by the Council on Social Work Education to award the Bachelor of Science in Social Work. We seek a motivated candidate who will be integrally involved in the continued development of our state-approved MSSW Program. UT Martin is a primary campus in the state-wide University of Tennessee System, with a combined graduate and undergraduate enrollment of approximately 7,000 students. The campus is located in Northwest Tennessee approximately 125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville.
