Job Summary:
The Residential Life Coordinator (RLC) role is a full-time, live-in position responsible for the total administration and operation of a residential community. RLCs are expected to foster welcoming and vibrant communities that nurture personal growth, promote diversity and inclusion, and enhance the student experience. RLCs do this through staff and student development, resident outreach, community building, attention to facilities, and administrative organization.

The salary for this position is $40,000(minimum) up to $42,000. Where the hired candidate will begin within this range is dependent on education, experience, and skills. In addition to salary, the university offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance and disability insurance and retirement. - Bachelors degree
- One year of student affairs experience in higher education
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with campus colleagues
- High level of cultural humility and experience working effectively with marginalized populations, including first-generation college students.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Job Duties:
Staff Development
- Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate 5-18 Community Advisors (CA) and Office Workers.
- Attend and assist in facilitating departmental CA training as well as plan and implement in-hall staff training sessions.
- Facilitate weekly staff meetings and individual meetings with student staff to encourage growth and development.
- Utilize leadership strategies on a departmental level and ensure its use among staff.
- Provide staff members with ongoing positive and constructive feedback including formal evaluations once a quarter.
Community & Student Development
- Interact and become acquainted with residents living in the hall providing them with personal and administrative support necessary in developing an inclusive community environment.
- Be aware of student community issues, needs and concerns through general contact with students and assist students with their housing related issues as appropriate.
- Support community building efforts in the areas of life skill development, personal identity development and impact, diversity and inclusion, interpersonal communication and sense of belonging.
- Meeting with students to navigate interpersonal conflicts with roommates/floormates.
- Guide CAs in the implementation of the departmental residential education model and resident outreach within the hall.
- Serve as a resource for students and staff by counseling, advising, and providing appropriate referrals for residents in need of professional services available on and off campus.
- Advise, direct and provide leadership to building student government (Hall/Community Council) including leadership development.
- Design learning outcomes or SMART Goals for programmatic efforts within the residence hall that are informed by student development.
Administrative Responsibilities
- Act as a liaison with campus partners.
- Perform "essential functions" and are required to report to work during emergencies and university closures.
- Participate in a live-on on-call duty rotation to provide emergency response for the campus, including weekend and holiday coverage.
- Provide, coordinate, and supervise customer service oriented front desk.
- Monitor and/or administer student employee scheduling and payroll preparation.
- Coordinate the in hall and between halls room change process and maintain appropriate communication with the Housing staff who coordinate occupancy, student staff and students.
- Manage budgetary responsibilities as appropriate within the parameters of the position. Budgets include staff development, community building, hall/community council, office supplies, and payroll.
Facilities Management
- Assist in the annual opening and closing of the residential halls, including the beginning and end of each quarter.
- Meet with custodial and maintenance leads for the residence hall bi-weekly.
- Maintain appropriate administrative paperwork including keys audits, equipment audits, mail processing, etc.
- Regularly tour and monitor the condition of the building including safety/security hazards, maintenance, custodial and accessibility hazards. Report, track, and follow up on facilities issues in the hall. Advocate for facilities improvements to enhance student development and academic success within a residential setting.
Professional Development
- Engage in a robust professional development plan with Assistant Director of Residential Life.
- Engage in ongoing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work with the Housing department and individually.
Other duties as assigned
- Serve on university committees
Conditions of Employment:
This position, during the course of university employment will be involved in the receipt of, or accountability for, university funds or other items of value, as well as the unsupervised access with the developmentally disabled, vulnerable adults or children under the age of 16. The offer of employment is contingent upon successful completion and passing of a background check prior to beginning employment.
All new employees must comply with EWU Immunization Policy 602-02 and provide proof of immunity or vaccination to MMR before beginning work at EWU. Waivers for the immunization requirements are available for medical or sincerely held religious beliefs.
