Assistant or Associate Professor of Mathematics and Statistics
Dates: Appointment effective August 1, 2025.
Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, Mathematics Education, or a closely related mathematical field, completed by August 1, 2025. Evidence of successful classroom teaching experience, the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse student body, and the capability to maintain a program of scholarly activity that includes research and publication are required.
Salary: Competitive, dependent on qualifications.
Responsibilities: Teaching 12 hours each semester. Use of technology (such as graphing calculators) in teaching is expected. Additional responsibilities include university service, academic advising, professional development, curriculum development, and maintaining a program of scholarly activity that includes research and publication.
Locale: The University of Tennessee at Martin is a primary campus in the University of Tennessee System. The campus is located in Northwest Tennessee approximately 125 miles north of Memphis and 150 miles west of Nashville. The University of Tennessee at Martin has a combined graduate and undergraduate enrollment of approximately 7,500 students. The emphasis is solidly on excellence in teaching, research, and outreach. We seek candidates who demonstrate a similar commitment.
Department: The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has 20 faculty positions. A major is offered in mathematics with concentrations in mathematics, applied mathematics, statistics, and actuarial science. Minors are offered in mathematics and statistics. The department operates a mathematics learning center that provides instruction in several evening courses and tutoring in all freshman and sophomore level courses.
