The Animal Caretaker ensures the facility is abiding by monitoring agencies guidelines (DOH, OLAW, USDA). Essential Functions
- Monitors and records animals environmental and physical conditions (temperature, humidity, etc.)
- Ensures issues or violations found are communicated to the IACUC administrator
- Maintains a safe working environment and enforce occupational and personnel safety policies
- Maintains consistent inventory of number of animals, animal feed, bedding, and place supply orders as needed
- Maintains and properly disposes of medical waste
- Member of the IACUC; attends semi-annual meetings and facilities inspections
- Responsible for the washing and sanitization of animal quarters and cages
- Provides food and water to animals
- Is responsible for housekeeping and custodial maintenance of entire animal facilities
