Compensation and Benefits

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $76,500 - $86,066 per year

Salary is competitive and negotiable depending on the strength of qualifications. This is a full-time, exempt, CSU Management Personnel Plan (MPP) position.

The CSU system provides a comprehensive benefit package that includes medical, dental and vision plans, membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (CalPERS), sick and vacation time, and 14 paid holidays a year. Job Summary

Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Human Resources, the Workers' Compensation (WC) Manager is responsible for overseeing the University's Workers' Compensation and Ergonomics programs. The fundamental goals of the position are to protect the interests of the workers who are injured or become ill on the job, while also protecting the assets of the University and reduce its exposure to risk. The WC Manager shall provide timely and caring service to assist injured workers, comply with state mandated regulations, oversee the claims process, and provide ergonomic services to employees. The WC Manager will also manage workers' compensation cases for CSU Bakersfield and attend hearings and depositions in Bakersfield. Some overnight travel may be required.

Key Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of Workers' Compensation law
  • Familiar with Cal-OSHA reporting requirements
  • Familiar with California Labor Code
  • WCP (Workers' Compensation Professional) certification, WCCA (Workers' Compensation Claims Administration), or WCCP (Workers' Compensation Claims Professional) certification strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of ADA (Americans with Disabilities) accommodation regulations preferred
  • Knowledge of office ergonomics assessments and coordination preferred
  • Experience working as or with a workers' compensation claims adjuster preferred

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or related field
  • Five years of progressive experience managing workers' compensation claims
