Student Success Advisor

Position Summary
Working under the guidance of experienced advising staff, the Student Success Advisor participates in the planning and delivery of academic advising and counseling services and programs that promote comprehensive educational opportunities for all students. This position reports to the Director of Student Services.
This position is considered a "Responsible Employee" under Title IX federal regulations and "Mandatory Reporter" under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you as the employee to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about violating Title IX. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Experience using computer-based software for data management and communication: i.e., Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas, both oral and written.
Ability to develop specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize and accomplish the tasks at hand; use time efficiently in high-pressure situations.
Strong interpersonal and customer services skills to manage difficult or emotional situations in a professional manner.
Demonstrate a strong understanding of institutional policies.
Ability to identify student strengths and weaknesses.
Strong teamwork skills;
Dependability, attendance/punctuality,
Safety and Security-Observes safety and security procedures.
Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.

Required Education
Bachelors Degree in Education, Counseling, or an academic field directly related to responsibilities.

Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of experience in advising or related academic function within higher education.

Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in a related field.

Work Hours
8 am - 5 pm Monday - Friday with flexibility for some Saturday and extended weekly hours as needed for events, critical weeks as needed for student needs.
