Position Summary
Big Bend Community College invites applications for Associate (part-time) Faculty positions in the college's Simulation (SIM) Technology Department. BBCC is a small rural community college located in the sunny, central part of Washington State, and is accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities. Big Bend Community College serves over 5,000 students annually, with an annualized FTE of approximately 2,100, in a 4,600-square-mile service district including 15 communities in Grant and Adams counties and the Odessa School District in Lincoln County with on-site, online instruction, and interactive classrooms.

This position is responsible to prepare and teach courses in the Simulation Technology department. This position reports to the Dean of Workforce Education and works closely with the Simulation Technology faculty and staff. Teaching assignments may include day, evening, weekend, online, and on or off campus assignment/labs.

Associate Faculty receive quarterly contracts. Payment is based on $723.49/per lecture credit.

Essential Job Duties

  • Prepare and teach assigned medical simulation courses in accordance with the Master Course Outline and in consultation with the Simulation Technology Coordinator and the Dean of Workforce Education.
  • Meet the class times as required by the quarterly schedule.
  • Assist students with questions and projects related to the courses being taught.
  • Maintain frequent communication with their students.
  • Teach and enforce rules in the labs.
  • Refer students to the appropriate college resources as needed.
  • Maintain and submit grades and to college personnel when required.
  • Maintain student course materials for two (2) quarters beyond the quarter of attendance.
  • Submit assessment data in consultation with the Simulation Technology Coordinator.
  • Assist with development, selection and/or recommend selection of instructional materials for courses being taught.
  • Post syllabi to the portal for each course taught.
  • Maintain an educational environment that promotes student learning and success.
  • Teaching assignments include day, evening, weekend and on or off campus assignment/labs.


Minimum & Desirable Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in related fields.
  • A minimum of one-year experience with medical simulation.
  • Experience with CAE, Gamaurd and/or Laerdal simulators.
  • Experience working directly with individuals from diverse academic, age, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:
  • CHSOS certification.
  • CHSE certification.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ACLS & PALS.
  • Demonstrated knowledge with Muse, LLEAP & Uni software.
  • Experience teaching at a community college within the previous three years.
  • Experience using innovative teaching techniques.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
