The Department of Mechanical Engineering in the College of Engineering and Integrated Design at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) invites applications for a non-tenure track position to be filled by January 2022. The Department is looking for outstanding individuals at the rank of Senior Lecturer / Assistant Professor of Instruction with demonstrated teaching experience who can help the department strengthen its teaching program. Candidates should have a M.S. or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field by the time of employment. Applicants are sought to teach our sequence of Senior Design I and II courses, and should have the willingness and ability to teach other mechanical engineering courses as needed.

Salary
$60,000-$70,000 annualized, 9 month contract

Required Qualifications
  • M.S. in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering discipline.
  • 5 years of experience working as a full-time employee in an engineering capacity either in governmental or private industry.
  • Proven skills with project controls, budgeting, project tracking, and associated MS project planning and tracking software
  • Demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication skills and in the development of Safe Operating Procedures for industrial processes and/or the composition of training plans and manuals for mechanical equipment.
  • Multidisciplinary engineering background demonstrated in the leadership of technical projects or processes.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in mechanical engineering or closely related engineering discipline.
  • 10 years of experience working as a full-time employee in an engineering capacity either in governmental or private industry.
  • Proven management experience in organizations with multiple direct reporting of engineers and technicians.
  • Current knowledge of emerging fabrication technologies such as metal printing, lean manufacturing practices, machine shop operations.
  • Prior experience teaching at an institution of higher education.
