TITLE: Security Guard II

POSITION SUMMARY
Under general supervision, provides on-campus protection of personnel and college-owned property; provides limited security coverage to the Technology Center at Nashville; protects property, facilities, citizens, staff, and students.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Patrols by foot or motor vehicle
Observes and reports suspected crimes, accidents, or activities of a questionable/suspicious nature
Reports accidents involving persons or property, reporting probably cause of accidents, pursuing appropriate course of action and informing proper authorities as required.
Testifies in court or legal proceedings as required
Supervises the maintenance and use of security equipment
Keeps records and prepares reports
Discourages unlawful activities
Writes citations for traffic and parking violations
Performs other work as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or educational equivalent required.
Valid Tennessee driver's license required.
Security unarmed license required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of campus policies, city, county and state laws
Knowledge of geographic area of campus
Knowledge of campus and local area provisions for emergency situations
Ability to ascertain facts through personal contact and observation and to determine proper course of action
Ability to perform duties firmly, tactfully and with respect for the rights of others
Ability to operate all equipment necessary in performance of required duties
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, public and other employees.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to work with minimum supervision.

RATE OF PAY: $12.82 - $14.46

WORK HOURS
Friday 11:00 p.m. till 11:15 a.m. Saturday
Saturday 11:00 p.m. till 11:15 Sunday
Wednesday 3:00 p.m. till 11:30 p.m.
Thursday 3:00 p.m. till 11:30 p.m.
