Position Information:


Minimum Education and Experience:
The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Masters degree in nursing. All requirements for conferral of the degree must be complete no later than August 1, 2018. Specialization in the area of medical-surgical nursing, maternal-child nursing, mental health nursing or public health nursing; at least one years clinical experience in direct patient care in the specialty area within the last five years; a course which includes practice in teaching nursing or one years experience teaching nursing. In addition, applicants must be eligible for RN licensure in California and meet health policies and other requirements imposed by clinical agencies. Public Health Nursing applicants must also be eligible for a California Public Health Nursing certificate. Candidates must also pass a 10-panel drug test and background check as a condition of employment. Potential for significant achievement in areas of teaching, professional achievement and service required.

The successful candidate will exhibit a commitment to and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Additional Requirements and Responsibilities for this position:
This tenure-track position carries responsibilities in the areas of teaching, which include providing theory and clinical instruction for BSN, RN-BSN, and MSN students; new faculty teach a reduced teaching load for the first two years; scholarship Candidate must demonstrate potential for significant achievement in professional growth and achievement ; and service Candidate must demonstrate potential for significant achievement in service to the program, university and community. In addition, faculty are expected to participate in school governance, committee functions and student advising as needed. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before a final offer of employment with the CSU can be extended to a candidate. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants

The person holding this position is considered either a general mandated reporter or a limited mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (updated July 2017) and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

Recruitment Preferences:
Doctorate in nursing or related discipline (required for advancement to Full Professor).
