Responsibilities:

Seeking an individual with a strong background in physiology and pharmacology and a reasonable working knowledge in nutritional sciences. Candidates with background in biology or chemistry who can demonstrate competence in pharmacology and toxicology will also be considered. He or she should be highly motivated, able to work well in teams, and have excellent communication skills. Potential areas of application include: metal/nutrient transport, pharmacokinetics of several test compounds, neuropharmacology, neurotoxicology, teratology, lipid metabolism, biomarker analysis, cell and molecular biology.

Responsibility includes: performs basic or applied research in an area of considerable scope and complexity. Plans independent research and analyzes and publishes the results. Prepares grant proposals. Provides functional and administrative supervision over supporting research staff and transfers technical and statistical expertise. Responsible for purchasing and budget administration. Attends meetings and may present research.

Qualifications:

General: Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent; progressively more responsible experience that demonstrates the ability to plan and execute research; previous supervisory experience.

Specific: Applicants should have an advanced terminal degree (MD, DVM, or PhD in toxicology or closely related to the field of pharmacology/toxicology). Some experience with laboratory animals, pharmacokinetics or biochemical approaches is desirable.
