PROGRAM: TRIO Upward Bound is a federally funded pre-college preparatory program designed to help eligible students successfully graduate high school and pursue post-secondary education. Summer programming includes skill development through academic courses, and career and college exploration in addition to social/cultural enrichment activities. UB Summer Elective courses provide students with valuable educational opportunities outside of the academic classroom. Electives are engaging, challenge students to get involved, develop/increase awareness about commitment, and skill-building and provide the chance to explore interests or activities previously not considered.



Description of Primary Duties:
Teach 4 hours per day/week. Plan, develop, and implement course curriculum. The curriculum should focus on collaborative learning through experiential lesson plans that yield real-world impact. Develop age-appropriate and grade-relevant instruction for a blended grade level class (rising 9th graders-rising 12th graders). Complete pre-test, midterm, and final evaluations on each student. Create a 1-day community engagement lesson partnering with local organizations, businesses, or professionals that align to the subject taught. Attend pre-summer staff meetings and periodic staff meetings throughout the summer program.

Summer Institute Dates: June 2nd- July 8th
Classes run from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM Monday - Thursday. The course will fill a one-hour twenty-minute time slot per period. The course syllabus will need to be submitted prior to the academy start (date to be provided by the director after hire).

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications:
Teaching Certification is required. Previous teaching experience is required. Relevant technology skills. Ability to teach in-person on-site at Missouri State University.



Additional Qualifications:
Experience working with diverse populations is preferred.
