Office Assistant 1 (Part Time) Center for Disability Services

Job Summary/Basic Function:
This posting will be used to fill anticipated openings for part time assistants in the Center for Disability Services office. Positions may be available based on the number and type of accommodation requests received each quarter.

Assistants will support implementation of accommodations and services for students with disabilities, which may include one or more of the following:
o Test Proctoring
o Scribing/Reading
o Notetaking coordination (scanning and organizing classroom notes)
o Moving and adjusting ADA furniture
o Tagging and editing text in Word and PDF for the use of screen readers and other assistive software
o Assists students in classroom work

  • Clerical Duties
    o Data Entry
    o Maintain filing and records digitally and on paper
    o Scanning

  • Customer Service
    o Answering phones
    o Receive and refer visitors
    o Assist with appointment scheduling

  • Perform related duties as required

    Minimum Qualifications:
    Working knowledge and skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel
    Experience in customer service or direct client support
    Demonstrated cultural competency and sensitivity
    Attention to detail
    Comfortable working directly with students with disabilities and students with a wide variety of backgrounds
    Ability to follow clearly established policies and procedures

    Preferred Qualifications:
    Clerical experience
    Disability support experience
    Knowledge of laws pertaining to students with disabilities

    Physical Demands:

    Work Hours: Schedules are usually during CDS Office hours; M-Th 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM. Hours outside this time frame may be requested, dependent on our student needs. This position is part time, not to exceed 69 hours per month. Work is contingent on student accommodation need.
