Overview
The Department of English at California State University, San Bernardino invites applications from a diverse group of qualified applicants for a tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2020. We seek a specialist in Global Anglophone Literature, period open, to teach in a newly revised curriculum in a large, diverse, and dynamic English department that includes Creative Writing, Literature, Linguistics, and Rhetoric and Composition. Secondary specialization is open. We particularly welcome applicants whose work complements the department's existing strengths in the literatures of the Americas and who will help us deepen our offerings in Anglophone literature from globally-informed historical, theoretical and comparative perspectives.

The English Department offers a B.A. in English with multiple tracks and undergraduate courses in writing studies; a minor in English; an M.A. in English Composition with three concentrations (composition, literature, and applied linguistics & TESL); and certificates in professional writing, teaching writing, creative writing, and TESL.

California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) is located in San Bernardino in the Inland Empire, 60 miles east of Los Angeles and operates a satellite campus in Palm Desert located in Coachella Valley. CSUSB serves approximately 20,000 students, of which 81% are first-generation college students, and graduates about 5,000 students annually. As a designated Hispanic Serving Institution, CSUSB reflects the dynamic diversity of the region and has one of the most diverse student populations of any university in the Inland Empire, and the second-highest Hispanic enrollment of all public universities in California. Typical Activities
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in global Anglophone literature and culture, as well as in other areas, based on sub-specialization and departmental programmatic needs.

Minimum Qualifications
A Ph.D. in Literature is required by time of appointment, evidence of promise in scholarship, evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching and to service to the University and larger community.
