INSTRUCTIONAL SUPPORT ASSISTANT (Instructional Support Assistant II)

Primary Duties:
The individual will work under the supervision of the lead Instructional Support Assistant III for the Department. This position is directly under the administrative responsibility of the Department Chair and works closely with lead faculty of laboratory and activity courses for the Department. The individual will help ISA III plan and organize the operation of the Food Laboratory. The individual will assume control of inventories, and order and maintain supplies of food, food ingredients, for the operation of the Food Laboratory.

Required Education:

Equivalent to one year of experience performing support services for an instructional program and involving such activities as preparing, producing, dispensing or storing materials, supplies, and equipment.
OR
Equivalent to one year of experience in ordering, purchasing, accounting or in office work related to technical materials, supplies, or equipment or in an office which provided similar services to a technical function or unit may be substituted for six months of the experience.
OR
Equivalent to two years of college with 16 semester units in courses involving extensive use of materials, supplies, or equipment and in a discipline in the specialty area to which assigned.

Special Requirements:

The person holding this position is considered a mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083 as a condition of employment.

The duties of this position will include participation in a decision that may have a material/financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, this is a designated position under the California State Universitys Conflict of Interest Code and the incumbent will be required to file a Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest and is subject to the regulations of the Fair Political Practices Commission.

Throughout employment in this position incumbent must maintain a valid California Drivers License as well as continued completion and compliance of the CSU Defensive Drivers Training course.

A valid ServSafe Food Protection Manager certificate must be maintained throughout employment in this position.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily before any candidate can be offered a position with the CSU. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the application status of applicants or continued employment of current CSU employees who apply for the position. This considered a sensitive position. Current CSU, Chico employees are subject to a background check (including a criminal record check) if voluntarily moving into a sensitive position, regardless of any background checks previously conducted.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside and outside the laboratory stockroom, and class and laboratory rooms. Requires the need to regularly position self to provide materials, supplies and equipment, e.g. lifting, moving, carrying, transporting, forward reaching, reaching above shoulder level, grasping, fine and gross manipulation using hands, bending, stooping, crouching, entering closets and enclosed spaces and ascending and descending ladders and stairs. May lift up to 35 lbs and push a utility cart up to 75 lbs. Must be able to travel across campus to other office buildings.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Position involves frequent to constant interaction with students, faculty and staff across many disciplines and units on campus, to fill requests, coordinate material requests, seek repairs of lab equipment and classroom repairs, move large items, remove hazardous waste, etc. Required personal protective equipment will be provided by the employer and includes safety glasses, lab coat, cryogenic gloves, nitrile gloves, and face shield. Some travel to local vendors may be required as needed.
