Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; this is a temporary position to end on or before June 30, 2019 with a possibility of renewal on an annual basis if program needs exist.

About the Position:

We are seeking an exceptional individual to join our team as a Graduate Admission Counselor (Student Services Professional II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active, energetic mind that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.

Under the general direction of the Assistant Director or Graduate Enrollment, the Graduate Admission Counselor
collaboratively coordinates the outreach, admissions, evaluation and yield efforts for the Mihaylo College of Business and Economics Graduate Programs Office. Leads and assists Mihaylo Graduate Programs outreach, admission and application processing efforts for all business graduate programs. The Graduate Admission Counselor is responsible for evaluating domestic and international documents to determine whether a candidate meets certain criteria for a graduate program in the college, as well as competition status and if the candidate meets all pre-requisite course requirements for a graduate program the candidates applies. Incumbent follow-up with applicants, participate in and assist with the planning of on-and off-campus recruitment, application workshops, and other promotional events, which includes counseling and evaluating prospective student needs thus making judgement to recommend solutions to problems and changes in program procedures. Assists walk in students, conduct program admission meetings, and phone/video conferences. Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with prospective students, community partners, alumni and other special constituents related to recruitment and admission. Collect and disseminate information related to financial aid and scholarship opportunities. Develops and provides presentations to interested groups regarding Mihaylo's graduate admission procedures. Responsible for staying apprised of program application, admission and evaluation changes and updates. Other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or the equivalent from an accredited four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public administration, business administration or a job-related field and two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or a related field. A masters degree in a job-related field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience. Additional specialized and relevant experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

General knowledge of the methods and problems of organizational management, research, and interview techniques. Ability to interpret and apply program rules and regulations, obtain factual and interpretative information through interviews, and advise students individually and in groups on complex student-related matters. Ability to reason logically and use initiative in planning work assignments and in implementing long-range program improvements. Ability to plan, develop, coordinate, supervise, and organize programs and activities. Ability to interact with a diverse student population, faculty, staff, and the public. Ability to analyze complex situations accurately and adopt effective courses of action. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as the ability to acquire knowledge of campus procedures, activities, and of the overall organization.

A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
